Angel Programs

Angel Programs are Lives of Doctor Wives Foundation’s holiday program consisting of Angel Tree and Angel Food Cake.

Angel Tree  is a virtual holiday program for LDW members to use and donate to keep the magic of the holidays alive. Our Angels donate, and our Angels-In-Training receive a gift from their Angel. Many of us know too well the meager times we all have faced at one point or another during the holidays in training. However, many of our members are at a point in our lives where we can afford to help those in training coming up behind us. Last year was our second year, and it was a major success. Together, we were able to touch the lives of so many families on this medical journey! We have decided to do the program again this year to help touch the lives of even more families!

Angel Food Cake is a virtual food drive for LDW members to ensure our physician families-in-need can enjoy a holiday meal. Our Angels donate, and our Angels-In-Training receive a gift card to a local grocery store. Frequently Asked Questions

Who is eligible?
All LDW members are eligible to participate in the LDW Angel Food Cake. Your membership must be active and in good standing to be eligible. Members that join after the Angel-In-Training sign up sheet is released will *not* be eligible for Angels-In-Training this year unless an EXTREME need exists… please contact us privately if you feel you fall into this category.
What is the difference between an Angel and Angel-In-Training?
LDW Angels are the ones who sponsor and donate to other families– they are the entire reason this is even possible. Angels-In-Training (AITs) are our members that are eligible to receive a gift card. To be eligible as an AIT you *cannot* be partnered with an attending physician.
How much can AITs ask for and how much can Angels donate?
This year, we are asking Angels to donate in increments of $25. Each AIT will be eligible for a gift card based on the size of their family. If you don’t have kids but are requesting an AIT gift, your request will be prioritized based on need.
We are in still in training; can I still be an ANGEL?
OF COURSE!!! We had a few in training gals help others out last year, and it was truly touching to see how many people were so selfless.
I want to be an ANGEL. How do I sign up?
Thank you!! We need all the Angels we can get… last year every dollar was used and made a huge difference! Here is the link to submit your pledge: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1I3kebjCRO3Sau89E7qwbgGTBiFVFFsZiYebcUmVcwpU/viewform
I want to be an Angel, but I want to remain anonymous. Is that possible?
Yes!! Of course it is. All you have to do is indicate that information on your pledge form.
Will everyone know how much money I donated as an Angel?
No. It is kept confidential (between organizers) unless you would like to share that information. It is up to you.
When do I have to postmark/send my donation by?
For Angel Food Cake, your gift should be postmarked by November 15, in time for the AIT to shop for their Thanksgiving meal.

For Angel Tree, your gift should be postmarked by October 30, so that our AIT can shop during Black Friday.

If I don’t have kids, can I still submit an AIT request?
Yes, you may if you have a basic need that *you* or your physician partner need help with. However, please understand that your request may or may not be filled depending on available funds.
Should I be embarrassed about signing up for AIT?"

Of course not!! If anyone understands how financially tough the training years can be, it’s LDW! One day, you’ll be done with training and can help a family coming up behind you. 🙂

Will anyone know that I asked to be an AIT?

Due to the nature of the virtual angel food cake, a few people are bound to know. Organizers will have access to your information. It will not be open to the public or posted on the board.

Can I send a thank you note to my ANGEL? What if they are anonymous?

We encourage AITs to send thank you notes to their Angel. If your Angel chose to remain anonymous, you may absolutely post a thank you on the board or PM it to Ashley Rudd or Whitney Gates to pass along. You may also send an email to angelfoodcake@doctorswives.org.
